Did You Know? The tallest mountain in the world is called Mt. Everest, located in Nepal, at 29,029 feet above sea level. Although it may seem extreme that a mountain can be taller than the ocean around it, it is not unusual for mountains to be higher than some of Earth’s oceans are deep.
