Did You Know? The oldest college mascot comes from Yale University. He is a bulldog purchased from a local blacksmith in 1889 by Yale tackle Andrew Graves. His name was Handsome Dan and is said to be the reason we have mascots at all, crediting him with being the first live college mascot in America. Currently Yale University is on Handsome Dan XIX.
