Did You Know? The NFL and the Chicago Bears were both officially named on the same day. When the NFL was founded in 1920, it was known as the American Professional Football Conference before switching to the National Football League, while the Chicago Bears were known as the Chicago Staleys before changing mascots. They would both change their names on June 24, 1922.
