Did You Know? The Olympic Torch Relay, which is an Olympic tradition, has roots that trace back to the very controversial pre-WWII 1936 Olympics. The torch relay was conceived as a ploy to be a propaganda tool for the then NAZI Party. They used it to showcase their idea of the superiority of the Aryan race by having the relay pass through countries that would later succumb to the Nazi rule such as Austria, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Hungary and Yugoslavia.
