    Edmund Burke was French? Really? Everything I read said that he was British.

    In responce to the question: “Which French political thinker is known for his defense of traditionalist conservatism?”, I concur with Mark, the answer should be “Joseph de Maistre”. Edmund Burke was not French, he was British (actually Irish, being born in Dublin). I got it right as none of the others made sense, except possibly Alexis de Touqueville, although even that was a bit of a push, as he was more of a reporter than a philosopher in “Democracy in America”.
