Which 1980s vehicle failed due to its stainless steel body and high price?

Did you know that one of the most unusual failed inventions was the “Cigar Box Guitar” telephone?
In the late 19th century, long before smartphones, inventor Elisha Gray sought to combine musical instruments and telecommunications.
He created a device that used a homemade electric guitar, made from a cigar box, to transmit sound over telegraph wires.
While it was a clever attempt at early multimedia communication, it never took off commercially due to its impracticality and the rapid advancement of more efficient telephonic technology.
This quirky invention, however, highlighted the creative spirit of the era and laid the groundwork for future innovations that would eventually change how we communicate.
