Did you know that the Basenji, often called the “barkless dog,” is one of the oldest and most unique breeds in the world?

Originating from Central Africa, the Basenji is known for its distinctive lack of barking. Instead of barking, these dogs make a unique yodel-like sound, known as a “baroo,” due to the structure of their larynx. This peculiar trait makes them nearly silent companions, an uncommon characteristic among dog breeds.

Basenjis were originally bred for hunting and their keen eyesight and exceptional agility make them excellent in this role. Despite their small size, they are incredibly athletic and can swiftly navigate dense forest terrain.

Their ancient lineage can be traced back thousands of years, with depictions found in ancient Egyptian artifacts. This fascinating breed offers a glimpse into early domesticated dog history while standing out with its modern-day quirks and charms.

A tortoise is NOT a mammal, ergo it was a bad question. I chose it because a horse normally does not make 40 and a bat may live 5 years. The question should be “What ANIMAL has the longest lifespan?”

The ostrich is not a mammal. It is a bird! A quick Google search states that the largest eyes on a land mammals are those of the horse, an option not even given.
