The Construction of Famous Monuments

Did you know that the Great Wall of China is not a single continuous wall but rather a series of fortifications?
Spanning approximately 13,171 miles (21,196 kilometers), it’s a testament to ancient Chinese engineering prowess.
Construction began as early as the 7th century BC, but most of what we see today was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644).
The wall was constructed using a variety of materials, including earth, wood, and stone, depending on the terrain.
One fascinating aspect is the use of sticky rice mortar, an ancient “superglue,” which contributed to the wall’s resilience.
This ingenious mixture of rice flour and slaked lime was so effective that many of the structures have withstood earthquakes and erosion over centuries.
