Did you know that the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD is often seen as a pivotal moment in history, marking the end of ancient civilization and the dawn of the Middle Ages?

At its height, the Roman Empire was a colossal power, spanning three continents and encompassing over 50 million people.

However, a combination of internal weaknesses, such as political corruption and economic troubles, along with external pressures from invading tribes like the Visigoths and Vandals, led to its gradual decline.

Interestingly, the Eastern part of the Empire, known as the Byzantine Empire, continued to thrive for nearly another 1,000 years, preserving much of Roman culture and knowledge.

This east-west divide dramatically influenced the cultural and political landscapes of Europe and the Mediterranean, a legacy still evident in modern times.
