Did you know that before he became one of the most influential scientists in history, Albert Einstein worked as a patent clerk?

In 1902, at the age of 23, Einstein took a position at the Swiss Patent Office in Bern after struggling to find an academic job post-graduation.

This job may seem unremarkable for the man who would later revolutionize physics with his theory of relativity.

However, it was during his time examining patent applications that Einstein developed his keen sense of creativity and problem-solving skills.

His relatively straightforward day job allowed him the mental freedom to explore scientific concepts in his own time, leading to his groundbreaking publications in 1905, often referred to as his annus mirabilis, or “miracle year.”

So, while Einstein may be celebrated as a physicist, his career switch from patent clerk to groundbreaking scientist is a testament to how unexpected beginnings can lead to extraordinary accomplishments.
