Arizona and Hawaii are the only two US states to not observe Daylight Savings Time. A few US territories also refrain from observing DST: the commonwealths of Puerto Rico and the Northern Marina Islands; the U.S. Virgin Islands; American Samoa; and Guam.

The French town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is best-known for its wine — and a bizarre long-standing law. For the last 67 years, a statute has barred the "flying over, landing, or taking off of flying saucers" in the area. Former Mayor Lucien Jeune implemented the ban in 1954, which reads: "Any aircraft, known as flying saucer or flying cigar, which should land on the territory of the community will be immediately held in custody."
