Famous Last Meals in History

Did you know that one of the most famous last meals in history was that of Napoleon Bonaparte?
Exiled on the remote island of Saint Helena, Napoleon’s health was rapidly declining in 1821.
For his final dinner, he reportedly ate a simple, yet telling meal consisting of liver and bacon chops, fried eggs, sautéed tomatoes, and bread with red wine.
This modest menu starkly contrasted with the opulent banquets of his imperial past, symbolizing the drastic shift from his days as Emperor of France to his lonely demise in exile.
Interestingly, his choice of red wine hinted at his appreciation for the finer things, even in his last moments, and was consistent with his lifelong love for Bordeaux wines.
