The History of the World Cup — Sports

Did you know that the World Cup trophy was once famously hidden under a bed to prevent it from being seized during World War II?
In 1938, Italy won the Cup for the second time, and the trophy was entrusted to Ottorino Barassi, an Italian FIFA official, to keep it safe.
When the war broke out, Barassi feared that Nazi forces might steal the precious trophy.
So, he ingeniously concealed it in a shoebox and stored it under his bed in a humble Roman apartment.
This clever strategy ensured that the Jules Rimet Trophy remained undiscovered and intact until it was handed over for the tournament’s revival in 1950.
